Senaya

Hi, I am Senaya. I'm 8 years old. I have been learning for 3 years. I like the instrument because it makes a beautiful sound. I wanted to play it because not many people are playing it. I like learning in the instrument with Caroline because she is kind and she teaches me very well. I have managed to stretch my fingers for stilts in the exercise book. I am still trying to relax my hand. I am proud of articulating really nicely.

My favourite piece to play: Barn Dance Memory

My strengths: Learning quickly, listening, stretching my fingers

My Areas of development: Looking In the notebook, playing smoothly, relaxing my hand and not resting my left wrist on the harp.

Sarah

My name is Sarah and I am 10 years old. I've been learning the harp for nearly 2 1/2 years now and it's been great.

I've been learning from Caroline for a while and she is a great teacher. She has lots of patience encourages me a lot and inspires me to play the best I can.

I love the sounds the harp makes- the sounds are beautiful, peaceful and calming and so cool!

I have received a ‘Distinction’ for my Trinity Initial exam, my ABRSM Grade 1 and my ABRSM Theory Grade 1 all thanks to Caroline and a bit of hard work. I'm taking my ABRSM grade 2 soon so fingers crossed.

I would like to continue playing the harp and to get all of my grades and to achieve at least a minimum of a merit in all of the exams.

My proudest moments include passing my exams and performing in front of my school at the school concert.

Favourite piece to play: Fairy Dust by Stephen Dunstone

My strength: Sight reading

My areas of development: Aural (echoes)

Mwaka

Hi, I'm 15 and I currently play the piano and the Harp I am doing my grade 5 on the piano and grade 4 on the harp. I've always loved the piano ever since I was a little girl, but it's only recently (around 3 years ago) that I got into the harp. The reason I like learning with Caroline is the fact that she helps me develop my skill in my weaknesses and she pushes me forwards. So far I have managed to get three distinctions in my harp exams Grades 1, 2 and 3 which I'm really proud of and I'm aiming to excel in my forthcoming piano exam too.

Favourite piece to play: A ‘Bheairt-Fhioda’ and Gymnopédie No. 1

My strength: Spread chords/ musicality

My areas of development: Sight Reading
